Arran Port Cask Finish (700mL)

Another exemplary Wine-finished Single Malt from Arran — this time showcasing the magic of Port casks.

Harold Currie was a senior director Chivas. He somehow got it in his head that he could do Whisky better. Harold was also a fan of the Isle of Arran — an island in the middle of the Firth of Clyde which had at one time been home to at least fifty illegal distilleries. So he saved his pennies, took on a few investors, and broke ground on his dream in 1994 on the island near the town of Lochranza. But two golden eagles built a nest on site and construction had to be stopped until the chicks were fully fledged. Solid move, right? Today, they produce a tidy range of Single Malt offerings, limited editions, special blends, and a Scottish cream Liqueur.

Turns out good old Harold COULD do it better.

Arran starts off their marketing materials with a simple phrase, “We are proud to present our range of Wine cask finishes Single Malt.” And they should be. In general, Wine casks do wonderful things to Single Malt Spirits. But Arran Single Malt has a special affinity that tastes rather magical.

Arran Port Cask Finish is what you read on the label — Arran Single Malt matured in ex-Bourbon casks and finish in Port Wine casks and bottled 50% ABV without added color or chill-filtration. Like we said… magic.
