Nowadays, the company's sole owner's is the González family; run by the 4th and 5th generation.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNomad Outland Whisky \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eis González Byass’ newest venture. It's a creation and \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ecollaboration \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003ebetween their master blender \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eAntonio Flores\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e, and \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eRichard Paterson\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e, master distiller at the Dalmore. Nomad Outland Whisky is made by \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eblending 25 single malt Scotch \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eWhiskies, mostly from Speyside, and \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003e6 Grain Whiskies\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e, all aged between 5-8 years. After the blending, the Whiskies are further \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eaged for 1-3 years \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003ein Scotland, and then shipped to González Byass Serry bodega in Jerez, Spain, for an \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eadditional 12 months \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eof maturation in \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003ePedro Ximénez\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e casks. Take for example the \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCooley Distillery\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, which was founded by John Teeling, and Walter Teeling in 1782 who set up a distillery on Marrowbone Lane in Dublin.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eTeeling Small Batch Whiskey\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e is Teeling's attempt to create the \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003emost interesting\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e Blended Irish Whiskey. Have they succeeded? The Small Batch is a blend of malt and grain Whiskey, specifically 35% malt and 65% grain, which means it's quite \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003ehigh in malt\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e content (good!). It's bottled without an age statement, however we've found out that they use Whiskeys \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eaged from 4 to 7 years\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e. What makes it extra interesting is a further \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003e6 months of maturation\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e in ex-Flor de Cana Rum casks, which imparts sweet molasses flavors and notes, yet, remains Irish in the core. Fantastic? Oh yes. Monkey Shoulder is a \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003estand-alone\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e product, which brings us to the special magic of the Whiskey itself.   \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\n\t \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\n\tIt’s no secret that large Spirit companies segment their products. They run their individual distilleries and package the premium Single Malts as independent brands. All of the \"non-premium\" product is shuffled off to blending houses for entry-level use. Hey, it’s all good, we get it.  But what happens when you have some of your best, most highly-prized Single Malts producing a lot of the really good stuff… stuff too good for the bottom shelf and discount bins?   \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\n\t \u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\n\tMonkey Shoulder is officially a\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e \"Triple Malt.\" \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e This means that it is \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNOT \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003ea random amalgamation of whatever is on hand.
